Sarita’s Story

Dedicated and passionate teachers are the key to a successful, life-transforming class. These men and women set aside two hours a day, five days a week, for one full year to invest in the illiterate adults of their village. They volunteer their time, allowing poverty-stricken students to attend the class at no cost.

One such class had a very young teacher. She was furthering her education during the day, and in the evenings would come home and teach a class. When I heard her story and how she works so hard to go to school and in the evenings teaches the women, my heart was full. I told her that her parents must be so proud of her. She responded, "Well, I am actually very proud of my mom. She is a student of mine in this class."
